Varalakshmi Alankarana 2014 August -Decorated By Nagamani Ramineni |
Varalakshmi Vratam(Varamahalakshmi pooja/Varalakshmi pooja) is performed by married women in south India for prosperity, happiness, wealth and for the well being of all the family members, especially invoking the blessings of Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth)on their husbands and their children.
Every year this pooja will be done in the month of Sravana Maasam approximately it will fall between July and September months of the English calender. The whole month of Sravana Maasam is auspicious and the prescribed day for the pooja is the Friday of the month of Sravan in the fortnight (known as Sukla paksha,) preceding the full moon day.
Being a Hindu woman I started this pooja after my marriage and continuing every year without fail. From my childhood I love to observe this pooja from My mom and neighbours.I adopted my own style of decorating the goddess Lakshmi. Each year I like to dress up and decorate her in different style.
In this blog I would like to share how to dress up and decorate the goddess Lakshmi in the Varalakshmi Pooja Festival day.
I would like to share the traditional way of performing pooja and vaainadhanam in my following posts.
